ಈ ನೆಲ ನಾನೆಂದೂ ಬರೆಯಲಾಗದ ಸುಟ್ಟ ಕಾವಿ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಒಂದು ಕವನ.

ಆಗಬಹುದಿತ್ತು

ಆಕಾಶದ ಅಕ್ಷರ ಕಾಗದವಾಗಿದ್ದಿದ್ದರೆ, 

ಹಲವು ಮೈಲಿ ದೂರ ಕ್ಷಿತಿಜವ ಮುತ್ತಿರುವ 

ಕಾಡು ಕುದುರೆಗಳ ಮುರಿದ ಸಾಲು ಶಾಯಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಿದ್ದರೆ.

ಆದರೂ, ನೆಲಕ್ಕೆ, ಗಾಳಿಗೆ, ಆಕಾಶಕ್ಕೆ ಎಂದಾದರೂ ಬರೆದದ್ದೇನಾದರಬಗ್ಗೆ ಪರಿವೆಯುಂಟೇ?

Joy Harjo is a Native American poet.  Harjo is a member of the Muscogee Nation (Este Mvskokvlke) and belongs to Oce Vpofv (Hickory Ground).  She is the incumbent United States Poet Laureate, the first Native American to hold that honor.  She is an important figure in the second wave of the literary Native American Renaissance of the late 20th century.
