PARIJATA DREAMS

 

Bedecked and 

making a million stars bloom

the parijata tree standing tall 

head held high 

dreams only of the sky

 

it calls the sky

into its arms

to cast its stars there

 

as the night tiptoes in

with the moonlight

the gentle cascade of flowers

makes a rangoli on the earth

a blanket of dew at dawn

 

the tree, oblivious, or

unbothered by these

longs to link

the earth-stars with 

the dream of 

the sky-flowers,

to reach the skies on a flower-chariot

to reach the depths only through roots

 

heavenly yearnings with

earthly desires

ಪಾರಿಜಾತದ ಕನಸು

 

ಲಕ್ಷ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರಗಳ ಅರಳಿಸಿ,ಸಿಂಗಾರಗೊಂಡು

ತಲೆಯೆತ್ತಿ ನಿಂತ ಆ

ಪಾರಿಜಾತದ ಮರಕ್ಕೆ

ಗಗನದ್ದೇ ಧ್ಯಾನ.

ಕರೆಯುತ್ತದೆ ಬಾನ

ತನ್ನ ತೆಕ್ಕೆಗೆ-

ಸೇರಿಸಲು ತನ್ನ

ನಕ್ಷತ್ರಗಳನಲ್ಲಿಗೆ.

ಇರುಳೋ, ಬೆಳದಿಂಗಳ ಜತೆಗೆ

ಮೆಲು ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಿಡುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಂತೆ

ಒಂದೊಂದಾಗಿ

ಜಗುಳಿದ ಹೂವು

ನೆಲದ ನಂಟಲ್ಲಿ ರಂಗವಲ್ಲಿ

ಮಂಜಿನ ಹೊದಿಕೆ ಮುಂಜಾವಲ್ಲಿ.

ಇದೆಲ್ಲದರ ಅರಿವಿರದ,

ಅಥವಾ ಅರಿವಿಗೆ ತರದ

ಮರಕೋ ಈಗ,

ನೆಲದ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರಗಳ ಹಾಗೂ

ಬಾನ ಹೂಗಳ ಕನಸ ನಡುವೆ

ಸಂಪರ್ಕ ಸಾಧಿಸುವ ತವಕ:

ಹೊಸದೇ ಹೂ ತೇರ ಮೂಲಕ ಗಗನ

ಬೇರ ಮೂಲಕವೆ ನೆಲದಾಳ

ಅಲೌಕಿಕದ ಕಾಂಕ್ಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ

ಲೌಕಿಕದ ಆಸೆ ಜತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ.
