ನನ್ನ ಪತನ NANNA PATHANA - VICTOR DE LA CRUZ'S "MY FALL"

VICTOR DE LA CRUZ (1948-2015) was an Oaxacan poet from Juchitán, a hub of Isthmus Zapotec art and culture on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.  He was a poet in two languages: Spanish and Zapotec (his mother tongue). His poems have been translated into English, French, Italian and German. He belonged to the most deeply rooted tradition of Zapotec poetry. His voice is considered the continuity of those who in the isthmus of Tehuantepec in Mexico.  They have sustained the indigenous words of song and poetry, maintainers of regional oral literature.

ನನ್ನ ಪತನ

 

ತಳಕ್ಕೆ,

ನೇರವಾಗಿ ತಳಕ್ಕೆ ನಾ ಬಿದ್ದೆ,

ಬತ್ತಿದ ಬಾವಿಯೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದಂತೆ,

ನೋವು ಹರಿಯುತ್ತದೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ

ನೀರಿನ ಬದಲಾಗಿ,

ನನ್ನೂರ ನಾ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬಂದಾಗಿನಿಂದ.

ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯ ಕೊರಗುತ್ತದೆ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ,

ಪ್ರತಿ ಸಲ ಸುತ್ತ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ,

“ಇಲ್ಲೇನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ ನಾನು?”

- ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನಾನೇ ಕೇಳುವೆ – 

ಮಲಗಲು ಹೋಗುವೆ

ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನ ಹಾಸಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ,

ಹೆಸರು ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲದವನ ಹಾಸಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ.
